We’d like to welcome Mrs A Nixon to Annan Academy. It’s great to have someone in charge of our library again.
We would like to thank Mrs Magellan for all of her hard work in the library last session. Although she was only with us for a relatively short time, she certainly made an impact and we will miss her. We wish her well in her studies in the USA.
(Please note – interval is now 10.40 – 10.55 am)
The library at Annan Academy is an important whole school resource and has a great deal to offer you, whatever your interests are.
How the Library works
Every pupil (and member of staff) has his or her own barcode (just like the products in a supermarket only much better).
Pupils are generally allowed to borrow 2 books at a time for a period of two weeks. You can bring your book back earlier than that if you finish it before then.
There are no fines for bringing your book back late but if your book is very overdue a reminder will be sent to you via your Tutor teacher and then your Head of Year. You may well be preventing someone else from using that book. Just think how you would feel if you were waiting for a book and the person who had it kept “forgetting” to bring it back.
Throughout the school year you will see lots of different displays in the library. You might even help to set one up or suggest a topic or contribute some of your written work or an illustration, poster etc.
Annan Academy’s first Sponsored Reading Week (in May 2009) raised over £500 for the Library. Check out the Manga and Comic novels bought with some of that money – you might even like to sit on one of the Library’s bean bags as you read.
If you have good ideas for raising the profile of the library and of reading in general, we’d love to hear from you.
